  • When will pine straw be available from the farm?
Depending on the weather, the next harvest of straw will begin in October or November of 2023 and last about 10 days. We will note on the site how many boxes we have left so you can ensure you purchase yours early and you are ready for the winter and holidays. Act fast, pre-order now as we will have limited supply!
  • How much area does a box of pine straw cover?
Boxes of straw are 25"x25"x15" and will hold enough straw to cover approximately 100 square feet, 1" deep. If winterizing plants, be sure to apply straw a bit thicker around the root spread of each plant.
  • How long does pine straw last?
Once you have spread the straw, it will maintain most of its color for approximately 6 months. If applying on a flower or plant bed, Franklin recommends removing in the summer and / or tilling small amounts into the soil of the bed. Once the late fall comes again, you'll be ready for a fresh application of Franklin's hand-harvested straw.
